Join Gregg and Dela at the museum for one evening to learn about their spectacular adventure and ask them questions. In April 2008, Gregg Treinish and Deia Schlosberg became the first people to trek the length of the Andes Mountains, south of the equator, a journey that lasted nearly two years and covered 7,800 miles. Following the spine of the longest mountain chain in the world, the couple created a new route, sometimes off-trail and off-map. Traveling to remote and some never-before-visited villages in the Andes, they met people who have practiced sustainable methods for centuries. They see a tremendous value in sharing the lessons learned from a people who have been living harmoniously with the land for generations. Through intimate journal entries, stunning video, and captivating slides, Gregg and Deia, who were named National Geographic Adventurers of 2008, bring their audiences along for the journey. For more information reach the museum's contact person and go to http://www.acrosstheandes.com/. Tickets for students are $9 and for adults are $10.
